JAS ANZ confirms ISO 45001 deadline

Much has been said of the new ISO 45001:2018 and how it will come to replace AS/NZS 4801:2001 however, up until now there had been no concrete deadline for businesses to make the migration to the new standard.

JAS-ANZ has now indicated that organisations certified under AS/NZS 4801 have until the 12th of September 2021 to migrate to the new ISO 45001 standard.

There are exceptions, however.  There are some regulatory requirements that still refer to 4801 specifically.  Where an organisation must meet these requirements then they will need to retain their 4801 certification.

So, if you are 4801 certificated you will need to consider if you are required to maintain the 4801 standard, otherwise you should make arrangements to migrate within the next 14 months.

Businesses which have been considering certification to demonstrate their commitment and strength of management regarding safety, the ISO 45001 is now the definitive standard to look to.
